Begin city exploration at massive Seomun Market, one of Korea's oldest and largest traditional markets operating for over 400 years with 4,000+ shops. Navigate the maze of alleyways selling textiles, Korean fabrics, clothing, dried seafood, traditional medicine ingredients, accessories, and street food. Try local specialties: napjak mandu (flat dumplings), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and various Korean snacks. Experience authentic Korean market culture - energetic, colorful, and delicious! Continue to Kim Gwangseok Street, nostalgic alley dedicated to beloved Korean folk singer who was born in Daegu. See murals depicting his life, bronze statues, and small museum. Live street performances often occur here. Evening exploration of Dongseongno Shopping District, bustling pedestrian street filled with fashion stores, cosmetic shops, trendy cafes, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Popular with young Koreans - feel the energetic youth culture. Welcome dinner at famous Daegu makchang (grilled intestines) restaurant - local specialty not for faint-hearted but delicious! Or choose Korean BBQ option. Return to hotel, evening free for cafe hopping or nightlife.
Day 2
Morning visit (9:00 AM) to Yangnyeongsi Oriental Medicine Cultural Center and Museum, unique attraction showcasing Daegu's 350-year history as Korea's center for traditional medicine. Learn about Korean herbal medicine (hanyak), see medicinal herbs, understand diagnosis methods, try foot baths with herbal water, and get free health consultation based on traditional Eastern medicine principles. Walk through Yangnyeongsi Medicine Alley where dozens of shops sell ginseng, dried herbs, and traditional remedies. Continue to nearby Daegu Modern History Streets, preserved colonial-era buildings, former missionary houses, churches, and museums telling stories of Korea's modernization period and Daegu's role in independence movement.
